Drug Uses
Tamiflu (Brand Roche) is and antiviral and is used for treating and preventing the flu. Tamiflu is also very effective in treatment of birdflu and swine flu.

How Taken
Tamiflu comes as a capsule to take by mouth. The general dose for flu treatment in adults is 75mg twice a day for 5 days. For flu prevention it is recommended to take 75mg once a day for 10 days.

Warnings/Precautions
Before taking Tamiflu, tell your doctor if you have had any kind of kidney problems, you will need dosage adjustment. Do not take Tamiflu if you are allergic to oseltamivir phosphate or any other ingredients of tamiflu. Before taking tamiflu inform your healthcare provider if you have any allergies, if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant or breastfeeding. Generally it is not recommended to take tamiflu during pregnancy or breasrfeeding as the effects on the unborn baby are not known, It is not known if tamiflu passes into breast milk.

Missed Dose
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember, unless it is within 2 hours of your next scheduled dose. Do not take two doses at a time to make up for a missed dose.

Possible Side Effects
Like all medicines, Tamiflu can cause some side effects. These effects are usually mild to moderate. The most common side effects of Tamiflu are nausea and vomiting. In rare instances skin reactions and allergic reactions have been reported.

Storage
Keep Tamiflu out of the reach of children. Store at 25°C (77°F).

Overdose
If overdose is suspected, seek medical attention immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include severe dizziness, fainting, nausea and vomiting.

More Information
In general tamiflu is well tolerated and has minimum negative intercations with other medications, however before taking Tamiflu you should inform your doctor if you are taking any other medication.
